Everyone in Australia, like it or not, contributes to the current system of Medicare. The vast majority of Australians are obliged to depend upon it. A Brutal Game details the nature of that dependence. This is not a crude doctor-bashing exercise; it is a detailed, highly critical analysis of medical specialists' claims that they hold the interests of the public and individual patients as their ultimate priority
Stuart Rees, a social work academic of growing reputation, has focused his research and writing largely upon the evaluation of consumer experiences of health, welfare and legal services in contrast to accounts advanced by professionals, bureaucrats and politicians. He is currently Professor of Social Work at Sydney University
Leonie Gibbons graduated from the University of Sydney in 1974. She has worked on a wide variety of academic and government research projects in such areas as health care, welfare, law reform and education. She is presently an independent research consultant. Vissza
