This book is a completely new
edition of Colourful Austria, which
has been a popular favourite for
many years, especially as a pre-
sent to friends in all parts of
the world. In his foreword
Heinz Scheibenpflug, a well-known
Austrian writer and journalist,
discusses present-day Austria and
its people at the heart of Europe;
while Dr. Maria Neusser-Hro-
matka contributes a lucid chrono-
logical table of Austria's historical
development.
The backbone of the book are of
course the 96 pages of photo-
graphs in colour, taken by masters
of their profession. The pictures
are well-chosen and constitute
vivid illustrations of the beauties
and individuality of the Austrian
scene, of the nine Provinces and
their capitals; while reproductions
of some of Austria's outstanding
cultural monuments afford elo-
quent testimony to the country's
