CORVINA w PRESS In his first növel, Dark Angel, György Moldova portrays the struggles and e*plorations of a boy at war with his environment, his family and society, describing the shaping of his personality. All this is set against the background of the contradictions, the charged atmosphere and the important historical events of Hungary in the 1950s. The ups and downs of the boy's life merge into a number of situations which are characteristic of that period. Csaba, the hero of the növel, first appears as the member of a group of insurgents in 1956, then as a self-chosen and defiant outcast; he goes to a reformatory, works on the construction of a huge industrial plánt and later is seen among the intellectual misfits of the night-life of a big city. In the meantime the reader encounters the destinies and loves which touch on his story or brief ly cross his path -interesting portraits, which give food for thought, from an age which can perhaps be more easily understood and grasped...
