JUAN ALVAREZ is a Title I resource teacher in the Austin, Texas public schools. He received his B. A. degree in art from Texas Western College, his M. A. degree in art education from the University of Texas at Austin, and a degree in criminology from the Institute of Applied Science in Chicago. He is presently working toward a doctorate at the University of Texas at Austin with concentration in curriculum and instruction for disadvantaged students. MARIE JO KWAPIL is presently Director of Special Education in Kenosha County, Wisconsin. She holds a B. A. degree from the College of St. Francis, an M. A. degree from Western Reserve University, and is working toward a doctorate in educational administration with a specialization in bilingual and special education at the University of Texas at Austin.
