Deutsches Museum Flugwerft Schleißheim
The Schleissheim Airfield
The Schleissheim Airfield became a branch of the Deutsches Museum
in 1992. Its historic buildings date from the First World War.
The hangars and new exhibition hall house exhibitions on the
history of aviation, complementing the aeronautics and astronautics
departments in the main building of the Deutsches Museum in
Munich. Extending over a total surface area of 7800 m2, the numerous
exhibits include about 50 aircraft and helicopters, as well as hang
gliders, aircraft engines, flight simulators and much more. There is
also an exhibition on the history of the Schleissheim airfield and its
hangars.
A generously illustrated guide book is available, describing the
history of Schleissheim and the exhibits.
The Schleissheim Airfield is easily reached by S-Bahn (line S1
in the direction of Freising). From the station at Oberschleissheim,
the hangars are 15 minutes walk away.

Deutsches Museum Bonn
The Deutsches Museum Bonn opened on 4 November 1995, and
is devoted to research and technology in Germany since 1945.
The exhibition on the research system in Germany is divided
into five distinct areas: Elementary, Breaking the Ice, Between
Heaven and Hell, Across the Border, and Tradition & Vision.
Discoveries by Nobel prizewinners, technical achievements
from the wall plug to the airbag, developments in medical techno-
logy, including the most recent methods of brain research, new
discoveries in space and here on earth: all marked a new epoch in
research and technological innovation.
The catalogue contains essays, interviews, illustrations and
information on all the exhibits. Many of them are described by the
inventors and discoverers themselves.
