Intercultural learning is about discovering other cultures and in the process of doing
so, gaining insights into your own culture. The foreign language class provides an
appropriate context for developing it, all the more so when children learn through
topic and activity-based approach.
The materials in this book are a result of a school-based writing project set up and
supported by the British Council in 1998-99. Taking part were 17 practising primary
teachers working in small groups supported by 6 co-ordinators (also practising
teachers) in different regions of Hungary.
