The Cambridge First Certificate English Practice series from The Macmillan Press consists of six books specially written according to the 1984 syllabus. The titles include: Reading , Comprehension, Composition, Use of English, Listening Comprehension, Interview, and Practice Tests. Prepared by experts in their respective fields, each book combines teaching and testing, and is designed to increase the students' skills and confidence. A Key, consisting of answers and necessary tapescripts, for all six books in the series is available, as well as cassettes for Listening Comprehension and Interview. This book teaches and practises the speaking skills needed for Paper 5 'Interview' of the new Cambridge First Certificate in English examination, which tests competence at intermediate level. Prepared by experts in their respective fields, each book combines teaching and testing, and is designed to increase the students' skills and confidence. This book teaches and practises the speaking skills needed for Paper 5 'Interview' of the new Cambridge First Certificate in English examination, which tests competence at intermediate level. Each unit is designed to teach, not simply to provide 20 mock tests. Therefore, there is teaching and practice, as appropriate, of vocabulary, structure and phonology. As the book progresses, teaching decreases and the student is left more free. Only in the last three units is teaching withdrawn, so that by the end students are actually rehearsing for the examination. / An attempt has been made to give variety, even amusement, covering as wide a linguistic spectrum as is possible within the limits imposed. In the Communication Exercises a fair number of the 'categories of communicative function' (narration, suggestion, direction, invitation, enquiry, apology, advice, argument, etc.) are the focus of practice.
