The revolution in modern physics and its repercussions in all fields of thought is the subject discussed in this book by four great European physicists: Werner Heisenberg, one of the founders of quantum mechanics and exponent of the «principle of uncertainty»; Erwin Schrodinger, who laid the basis of wave mechanics; Max Born, innovator and leader in many aspects of the new physics; and Pierre Auger, discoverer of the «Auger effect » in photoelectronics which is of basic importance to the study of atomic spectra.
