Ed A. Hewett, formerly a senior fellow In the Foreign Policy Studies program at Brookings, is now Special Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs and Senior Director for Russian and Eurasian Affairs at the National Security Council. His previous book Reforming the Soviet Economy: Equality versus Efficiency (1988) was hailed by the New York Times as "the book of choice on Mikhail Gorbachev and the Soviet economy." Clifford G.
