Due to the changes taking place in international and domestic power structures, regional actors in the Middle East have to redefine positions and policies regarding their security. The visionary idea of a "New Middle East" has proven to be difficult to realize.
The precariousness of the political developments in the Middle East is reflected in "Peace and Stability in the Middle East and North Africa". Political models envisioning a new order of peace are in contrast with neorealist analyses and threatening scenarios.
