Photographed in the magnificent Cornish stately home of Port Eliot, the home of Lord and Lady St Germans, the latest collection of quilts by Kaffe and his team of designers features some wonderful new fabrics by Philip Jacobs, Kaffe himself and Brandon Mably and 20 splendidly diverse quilt designs. Port El/ot*s elegant, faded grandeur sets off the quilts to perfect/on.
Philip Jacobs' wonderful new Grandiflora design takes centre stage in Kaffe's dramatic Espania qu/lt (seen on the cover) where it has been fussy cut to centre on four large panels featuring its elegant sprays of rose b/ooms in three different colourways. In direct contrast, Kaffe's Jupiter fabric, an irregular, organic stripe, is cut up small in his Overlapping Squares quilt. His Rick Rack quilt makes a really strong graphic statement, using small prints to create a brilliant showshopping zigzag pattern.

Regular members of the team play their part in this current collection. Liza Prior Lucy contributes three del/ghifui qu/lis to this book. In Dreamy Hexagons, her subtle colour mixes in pastel shades are a study in soft ones - a total contrast to her vibrant, and appropriately named, Cartwheel with its whirling pinwheels. Roberta Horton, Mary Mashuta, Judy Baldwin, Sally Davis, Corlenne Kramer, Pauline Smith and Brandon Mably add their diverse and splendid designs, and different colour palettes, to the rich mix.
As usual, clear and detailed instructions for making each quilt are accompanied by flat shots of the entire quilt along with coloured piecing diagrams, plus templates.
Born in San Francisco, Kaffe Fassett settled in England in 1964. He developed his first fabric line in 1996 and later partnered Rowan to create the Kaffe Fassett Fabric Collection, which debuts new designs every autumn. Kaffe is the author of numerous quilting books, including Kaffe Quitts Again, Quilts in Sweden and QuHts en Provence. He is known all over the world for his brilliant colour combinations and designs, in many forms of needlework as well as quilting. His quilts have featured in special exhibitions in many countries, and particularly here at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
