"HORRIBLE PERPENDICULAR MOUNTAINS" was one of the descriptions of the Blue Mountains by early writers. The mountains seemed an impenetrable barrier to the development of New South Wales until Gregory Blaxland found the solution of following the ridges instead of the gullies, which had led previous explorers into dead ends. More than half-a-million people visit the ranges each year to drive along the spectacular highways, see the historic towns and such geological wonders as the Jenolan Caves, and drink in the beauty of the mountains from their forested foothills to the ever-changing colours of which the most memorable is the deep, glowing hue that has given the Blue Mountains their name. In this book Ron Morrison presents a collection of photographs which shows many aspects of the mountains in a form that every resident and visitor will enjoy. Vissza
