"Ae Lviv Slate Museum of Ethnography and Crafts holds one of Ukraine's largest collections of Articles of decorative and applied ¦art, ranging in date from the 16th century up to our days. This album is comprised for the most pari of reproductions of works by Ukrainian folk artists. Here the reader will find original objects of wood of the I6th—20th ¦centuries — domestic and decorative tarticles embellished with low-and high-relief carving, inlaid with metal, beads, and mother-of-pearl. , There is an interesting collection ^of c^perware of the 17th—19th Vîl centuries, consisting of a variety of dishes and plates some of which ' bear beautiful carving. The album features a select array of colorful , embroidered articles, woven fabrics and carpets dating from the 171 h century right up to our days. Represented in the album are also pieces of folk pottery noted for the great variety of their artistic and technical means of production, their unique pictorial and stylistic features, and the vivid individuality of their makers. The album includes about 400 black-and-white and color plates of !P.Ik objets d' a r t, many of zuhich have been reproduced for the first time. The edition is divided into sections, ecfch covering a specific type of décorative and applied art: costumes, embroidery, ceramics, glassware, p i s a n k as, articles of wood, metalware, etc. Every section is preceded by a short introduction characterizing the collection presented. The album's foreword, written by the mu.'ieurn's director, outlines the history of the collecting program and the popularization activities of this significant cultural establishment in Ukraine.
