uring the seventies, a wave of nostalgia started all over Europe, which spread over to the railway vehicles and engineering structures, too. As a result of this, the railways made an effort not only to maintain the old station buildings, tractive power units, passenger cars and wagons as relics of the past, but also to recall the heroic age of the railways by putting vehicles of historic
value into working oder setting them into service. Train sets restored in their original beauty are run as special trains in several countries on occassions of important anniversaries. The tradition originated in Great Britain, the fatherland of locomotive, but soon spread all over Europe and even beyond it. The leaders of the Hungarian State Railways reaUsed the importance of the movement very early. During recent years, several old locomotives and carriages . have been reconstructed
m the vehicle repairshops, and in 1985/86 a decision has been made as regards
