This new guide is a complete, illustrated account of all the world's birds of prey. It provides a concise introduction to the natural history of these most exciting birds as well as a handy pocket reference to aid in their identification.
All 295 species are carefully illustrated in full colour, often from more than one angle, to show their plumage, flight patterns and other distinctive features. Any differences between male and female, or adult and immature birds are emphasized, and the text accompanying each picture gives clear information on the bird's size, distribution, ecology and conservation status.
In the book's main section, the species are subdivided into 18 major groups according to the most widely-used systematic order. A brief introduction outlines the most important and interesting features of each group.
