She has also served as the chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, assistant secretary of state in the U.S. Bureau of Oceans, and is a longtime member of the zoology faculty of the University of Washington. Lou Guzzo is a former managing editor of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer arid reporter for the Cleveland Plain Dealer and the Seattle Times.
