Dixy Lee Ray is the former governor of Washington state. She has also served as the chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, assistant secretary of state in the U.S. Bureau of Oceans, and is a longtime member of the zoology faculty of the University of Washington. She is the recipient of many awards and honors, including the United Nations Peace Prize. Lou Guzzo is a former managing editor of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer arid reporter for the Cleveland Plain Dealer and the Seattle Times. He is the author of many books, including a biography of Dixy Lee Ray Vissza
