The study of culture is increasingly recognized as being integral to the study of language. This British cultural studies course is for students at an intermediate to upper-intermediate level in upper secondary or university level education, or in any context where culture forms part of an English language course.
The 10 units explore the variety and realities of lifestyles in contemporary British society through a range of broad topics such as cultural diversity, sport, food, education, holidays and leisure.
What's It Like? allows students to:
• Find out about the lives of people in Britain. How do they spend their time? How do they feel about their families, their friends, their environment, their future?
• Compare their own cultural context with that of modern Britain, adding a personal dimension to their work.
• Hear authentic recordings of young people from different parts of Britain talking about their own lives and issues that concern them.
