This poem was written by Master Mumon
more than seven hundred years ago, in a work designed to help the reader pass
through the ''gateless barrier" to enlightenment. Today the Mumonkan still retains its extraordinary efficacy in opening new avenues to the development of the human spirit and consciousness.
